Post 2020 US Presidential Election Campaign: Letter from US Senator Elizabeth Warren

by Julie Ann Racino, Democratic National Committee, 2022

US Senator Elizabeth Warren, who won the Kennedy seat in Massachusetts, was the leading Democratic woman contender for the 2020 US Presidential nomination. In the race, she finished third to now US President Joseph Biden and US Senator from Vermont Bernie Sanders.

During the campaign, we were surprised by her entry into the Oklahoma Hall of Fame, and delighted in her relationship with President Obama on the consumer financial security of Americans. In addition, former US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton won the popular vote in the last US Presidential election and we could not miss the momentum of the historic womenś win.

Our own US Senator Kirsten Gillibrand from New York was featured with an illustrious group on CNN debates, however, withdrawing early from the Democratic contest which included Sen. Cory Booker, Sen. Bernie Sanders, Sen. Elizabeth Warren, Sen. Amy Klobuchar, Tulsi Gabbard, Julian Castro, Mayor Pete Buttigieg (now US Secretary of Transportation), Marianne Williamson, now VP Kamala Harris, and US President Biden (See, debate files). Of course, here we have a campaign button for Andrew Cuomo for US President 2020.

Under the Biden Administration, Sen. Elizabeth Warren serves on the Democratic National Committee in Washington, DC.  Sen. Warren urges support of the DNC:

Policy is personal to me, and itś personal to all of us. To win up and down the ballot and expand our majority in Congress, we need to reach voters and make policy personal so that we can make these connections with people-how Democratic policies will touch the lives of working people.

If we want to build back better and implement policies that will dramatically change peopleś lives like funding child care, education, health care, and infrastructure, we must seize every opportunity to elect more Democrats in 2021, 2022, and beyond.

Every race in every state is important-up and down the ticket-and we especially got to pick up ground in Republican-led states. The DNC is investing everywhere, with a major focus on nested opportunities Those are states where Democrats have a chance to win not just at the top of  of the ticket, but down ballot also.

Taking advantage of nested opportunities is a smart investment. They can be a force multiplier-because by investing early in just one state, we have the power to lift Democrats to victory in multiple races. Itś a sound strategy for Democrats to build our majorities next year.

President Biden, Vice President Harris, and Democratic leaders across the country have been fighting hard for Americaś working families, while Republicans have been busy obstructing our progress and attempting to regain power by any means necessary.

The DNC has a plan to flip more states blue and take the fight directly to Republicans, but they need support from grassroots donors like you to make it happen.

Letś meet the moment and support the DNCś Democratic Fight Fund with everything we have got to elect more Democrats at all levels of government.

Thanks for being part of this,

Elizabeth Warren

U.S. Senator, Massachusetts
