Diaspora of the Polish in USA in the Twenty First Century
Income Transfers for Families and Children from 1983 (Temple University Press) featured research teams in Australia, Canada, England, Federal Republic of Germany, France, Israel, Sweden and the United States. These income transfers are still salient in the Biden Administration Build Back Better Plan-family allowance (now, child care benefits), unemployment benefits (with new Trump Administration restrictions), housing allowance (recipients now in high government jobs!), social assistance and supplementary benefits (food stamps, now to new food banks and cash debit allowances), personal income tax and social security deduction (e.g., US social security as retirement, disability and spousal), and child support and maternity benefits (pre parental leave benefits). The primary funder of the research was US Department of Health and Human Services Administration in Washington, DC (Social Security Administration, then Family Assistance Research Program). During the final phase of the study, one of the two primary investigators moved from Columbia University (Social Work) to Center for Advanced Study in Behavioral Science Institute in Stanford, CA (the generic group does not approve as specialist study) with additional support from federal government Institute on Mental Health (yes, see, online social media, 2021) and foundation leader, John D. and Catherine T. McArthur Foundation (field of philanthropy). As a current note, often multiple program initiatives are compared (current studies, comparing apples to oranges) which in US involves state-by-state comparisons (in this study, New York, Pennsylvania, Tennessee). And, yes the research studies are expensive though it is one of the only ways to know what is occurring (next to federal and state reporting) with initiatives as big as the Build Back Better Plan or international humanitarian and foreign aid programs.
