Mid-Term Elections 2022: Letter from President Barack Obama in Support of US President Joe Biden

Letter from President Barack Obama in Support of US President Joe Biden

June 2022 via Democratic National Committee

Since the day Joe was sworn in as our nation's President, I have watched him work tirelessly to repair, restore, and heal our country. And I am sure you are just as proud of him as I am.

Each and everyday, Joe and Kamala are doing the hard work of making their agenda a reality. They are fighting for policies that strengthen the middle class and unite our country. Because of them, American families received checks that helped them through some of the hardest times of the pandemic, we've created more good-paying jobs, and America is on the path to a brighter future.

Joe signed the America Rescue Plan and the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law into law, and he is delivering on his promises to workers and families everywhere. But there is still more work to be done.

This November's midterm elections could determine what Joe is able to achieve moving forward.

Julie Ann, we've already come so far together, but I need you to stand with me, Joe, Kamala, and the Democratic Party to build on what we have accomplished so far. Your support of the Democratic National Committee today will help elect Democrats who will fight alongside Joe to move our nation forward.

I know firsthand how difficult it is to make progress with Republican majorities in Congress. In the 2010 and 2014 midterms, Democrats lost seats in the House and Senate and the progress Joe and I were fighting for became even harder to achieve. This November, losing just one seat in the Senate or just five seats in the House will mean losing our slim majorities and could put Joe's plans for the future in jeopardy.

But if we stand together today, we can make new history. Joe needs the DNC firing on all cylinders, and that's why I am asking for your support today. This is a critical moment for the Democratic Party. Having resources early means every dollar stretches further-allowing our Party to build critical infrastructure in every state and support Democratic candidates running for office in every zip code.

The DNC is playing a major role in communicating Joe's message to every American. They're acting as a political megaphone, making sure voters know how the administration is fighting for them everyday. And they're sharing Joe's message of decency, unity, justice and hope.

In addition to informing the public about how Joe and Kamala are fighting for the American people, the DNC is leading the fight to protect and expand voting rights. The stakes for our democracy could not be higher as Republican-led state legislatures across the country pass laws designed to make it harder for American citizens to exercise the right to vote. Rather than put forward better ideas, Republicans are trying to tilt the playing field.

As Democrats, we know that our democracy is stronger when more people's voices are heard. That's why the DNC is investing nearly $5 million to get communities of color registerred to vote in battleground states across the country-their largest midterm voter registration investment ever.

This program will strengthen the DNC's already historic investments in on-the-ground organizing, shore up our state parties, and protect the right to vote.

If we stand together today, we can help protect our majorities in November. We can elect Democrats who will stand with Joe to build a better America. We can continue to create good jobs and improve our children's schools. We can ensure people have access to affordable housing, clean air, clean water, and the opportunity to get ahead. And we can level the playing field to ensure the wealthiest and corporations pay their fair share and working families get ahead.

People like you have always inspired my faith in the future, and we cannot continue to build on our progress without every single one of us standing together. I know you understand the urgency of this moment. That's why, each and every day between now and Election Day, we need to be working to protect our Democratic majorities and elect Democrats who share Joe's vision of building a more just, more generous, more democratic America where everybody has a fair shot.

I can't tell you how much I appreciate your generous donation to the Democratic National Committee and your ongoing support of Joe and Kamala. Thank you, as always, for your unwavering commitment to the values we believe in.

Sincerely,

President Barack Obama
